Welcome to the website for Ann’s surprise 70th birthday!

We’ll be bringing you a bunch of interesting facts and photos on the lead up to the big day.

At the bottom of this post you can leave a greeting for Ann, so feel free to leave a comment or share something about Ann. We’ll be handing this over to Mum after her party as a memento.

Be sure to check out the on the day page for all the important information on the day.

Ann Fact #4. Did you know?

A wonderful quality of Ann is her ability to forgive. She can be mad as mad can be one minute, forgive you, then be as happy as Larry the next.

We used to have a rather dopey Labrador called Brutus. His nickname was Stupid, rightly so. As a part of his morning routine he would walk his well worn trail through Mum’s garden. Mum would see him through the kitchen window and yell at him “Out of the garden … aaargh!!!” He’d sheepishly walk out and give a sort of “sorry” look.

But then Mum would line his kennel with a warm blanket the next day. Which of course Brutus would tear apart and she’d give him the rounds of the table again. But then the next night, Mum would give him a big bone! Which he’d bury in the garden and the cycle would continue!

Ann Fact #3. Did you know?

One of Ann’s favourite places is the first chair lift ride of the day at Falls Creek.

Mum used to always love the ride up in the morning especially when it was snowing. She’d always remark on how peaceful it was with the snow lightly falling on us and the currawongs calling out. That all changed when we arrived at the top, where we were usually greeted by gale force winds! The calm before the storm.

Her favourite run at Falls Creek is Panorama, which has since been renamed Drovers Dream. We’d ski it all day, for 5 days straight. Here’s a link to the latest snow cam image. If you click the play button just below the image on the left it’ll cycle through the images from the past 24 hours.

Ann Fact #2. Did you know?

Did you know that Ann earned her VCE in 1995?

Back in the day, girls traditionally only went to Form 4 (Year 10) then went out and started work. It really irked Mum that she’d never completed it, so out came the Salvage in her and went back to school.

Well done Mum!
